The deal, in plain words.

You need to be 16 or older. Keep your sign-in to yourself; anything done from your account is treated as done by you. One account per person — the signals here are one-per-person and several accounts would be a way around that.

You keep every right to your story, your updates and your images. Nothing here transfers ownership.

You give us permission to host it, show it, and include it in listings, search results and previews, for as long as you leave it published. That permission is what lets the site display your work; it ends when you delete it, except for copies already made by search engines and archives, which are outside our reach.

You confirm that what you publish is yours to publish, and that it does not expose someone else’s confidential information. Writing about a former employer is fine. Publishing their internal documents is not.

A draft is private. Once an editor approves it and it goes live, anyone can read it, search engines index it, and other people may quote it. Think about what you are comfortable having read years from now — revenue numbers and failures included.

You can unpublish or delete at any time. That removes it from here. It does not un-ring the bell.

Every submission is read before it is published. We may decline one, ask for changes, or remove something already live if it breaks these terms. When we do, we record the reason and you can see it.

We are looking for whether it is a real project told honestly. We are not judging whether the business is a good idea.

Reactions are one of each per project per person. Backing is one project per week. Both limits exist to make the signal mean something.

Do not manufacture them. Extra accounts, coordinated groups, anything bought — we remove the signals and usually the account. Ranking is a published formula, and it is only worth publishing if the inputs are honest.

Sponsorship buys a clearly-labelled slot and nothing else. It does not change your position in Discover, it is not an input to the trending score, and it never affects how many reactions, followers or backings your project shows.

To be explicit about what money does and does not buy: it buys a labelled placement in its own region, for a fixed number of days. It does not buy a position in any organic list, it does not change your trending score, and it does not affect whether your story is approved. The ranking function has no sponsorship input at all — that is enforced in the code and asserted by a test, not just promised here.

Placements are prepaid and run for the period bought. If we cancel one for a reason that is not your fault, you get the unused days back. If your project is removed for breaking these terms, you do not.

You have the statutory right to withdraw from a distance purchase within 14 days. Because a placement starts immediately, asking us to start it means asking us to begin during that period, and once it has run you can no longer withdraw from the part that has already been delivered.

No impersonating someone else, no publishing a project that is not yours, no scraping beyond what the site normally serves, no attempts to reach data that is not yours, no malware, no harassment, and nothing unlawful.

Automated access is fine within reason — an API that does not exist yet, a feed reader, an archiver — as long as it does not degrade the site for people.

You can delete your account whenever you like. We can suspend or close one that breaks these terms, and for anything short of serious abuse we will tell you why first.

If we shut the site down we will give reasonable notice and a way to export what you wrote.

We work to keep the site available and correct, and we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. It is provided as it is.

Stories here are written by their makers. We check that a submission is real and coherent; we do not verify revenue figures or claims. Do not treat anything here as business, legal or financial advice.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. Beyond that, our liability for any claim connected to the site is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before it arose, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost profits or lost data.

We may change these terms. For a material change we give notice before it takes effect, and continuing to use the site afterwards means accepting it.

Dutch law applies, and disputes go to the competent court in [city], the Netherlands. If you are a consumer this does not remove the protections of your own country’s law.
